NBC Apologizes For Emmy Plane Crash Skit

LOS ANGELES — NBC said it regrets a comedy skit that opened the Emmy awards show Sunday night involving a plane crash.

Hours earlier, 49 people were killed in a Kentucky crash. Tim Gilbert, the station manager of NBC’s affiliate (WLEX) in Lexington, Ky., said that the skit ranked “somewhere between ignorance and incompetence.”
