Newsday.com Seeks Web-Savvy Deputy Editor

Calling all newshounds! Newsday.com is looking for a deputy editor to help set the day-to-day editorial direction of the site, and oversee the planning of news, database, mobile and social media projects.

The ideal candidate will have significant newsroom management experience, preferably in a major news market. Of course, your experience should reflect strong news judgment and sharp copy-editing skills, but you should also be knowledgeable about Web metrics and social media tools.

To be considered, you should have at least five years of newsroom and Web publishing experience. Basic HTML, photo editing skills and experience working with video are must-haves, too, and knowledge of CSS, mySQL and Flash will make you look like a star. Those with flexible schedules and an interest in Long Island news, should apply here.
