Amanda Hearst Joins Town & Country

Town & Country has named Amanda Hearst its special projects editor. Hearst, the great granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, was most recently a columnist for Marie Claire.

According to a press release, at T&C, Hearst will continue to write about ethical fashion, pen pieces with “a philanthropic bent,” and serve as a brand ambassador.

Amanda Hearst Talks Clothes

The New York Times has a section called “What I Wore,” which features an important person discussing their clothing choices for one week. Why a paper would have something like this is beyond us, as pictures are a much better way of doing this than text, but because Amanda Hearst is taking part in the clothing diary today, it’s FishbowlNY’s duty to let you know about it.

Shockingly, Hearst – who aside from being an heiress to the Hearst empire is an Associate Editor at Marie Claire – wears lots of expensive-sounding things. Spoiler alert! Here’s what she wore on Tuesday:

I put on an Urban Outfitters brown and black patterned miniskirt with a black Calvin Klein shirt, Wolford tights and black Chanel knee-high boots. I added a necklace by my friend Prince Dimitri, a watch by Franck Muller and small Tiffany gold hoop earrings.

We’re not making fun of Hearst, heiresses are supposed to wear nice things. But we have to admit, when she says, “I’m such a New Yorker — I wear black all the time!” it makes us want to leave New York forever and ever and ever.

Hearst-Owned Marie Claire Adds A Hearst To Fashion Dept

mc.jpgMarie Claire announced two new additions to its fashion department yesterday and, not surprisingly, the Hearst Corp.-owned fashion mag now has a Hearst on the masthead.

Socialite and busy magazine intern and contributor Amanda Hearst has been named associate market editor at Marie Claire, where she will report to “Project Runway” staple Nina Garcia, the magazine’s fashion director.

Also reporting to Garcia will be Taylor Tomasi, who has been named style and accessories director, Marie Claire‘s editor-in-chief Joanna Coles announced yesterday. The two will start in their newly created roles on Monday.

A Condé Nast vet, Tomasi was previously the accessories director at Teen Vogue and got her start at W. Fashionista has reported that Teen Vogue will not be replacing her.

And in addition to being an heir to the Hearst fortune, Amanda Hearst has been keeping busy and involved in publishing through internships, like her most recent at Cosmopolitan Spain, “where she helped research and contribute to articles exclusively in the Spanish language,” the company said. We have to admit, she sounds very multi-talented and qualified for the position. But we’re allowed to be jealous that she’s snagged a coveted spot at a family-owned magazine in the midst of the worst job market in recent history, right?
