NBC LA Reporter Hoping for Three-Year Papal Conclave

Our pal Robert Kovacik didn’t think he’d be back in Europe so soon after covering the 2012 Summer Olympics for NBC Southern California. But sure enough, he jetted to Rome over the weekend to keep tabs on the papal conclave.

Kovacik is one of a number of SoCal reporters on location for the big event. Others include Chip Yost (KTLA), Steve Futterman (CBS News west coast correspondent) and Cathleen Falsani (the Orange County Register’s newly hired spirituality columnist).

FishbowlLA would have loved to have been a fly on the OC wall when the topic turned to the Biebs.

Perhaps Possley had a hand in shaping the tone of the book. Due in stores September 27, Belieber! Faith, Fame and the Heart of Justin Bieber focuses on the teen sensation’s apparently unshakable spiritual beliefs. Insists Falsani: “Justin has a message beyond what many critics quickly dismiss as ‘puppy love.’ It is above love, God’s love for everyone. And his fans are listening.”

Behold The Big Lebowski Bungalow, Bible

The media have been having fun for the past few days with the idea that the Venice home featured in the Coen brothers’ 1998 cult movie The Big Lebowski as the residence of Jeff Bridges‘ The Dude is now up for sale. It’s part of a six-unit compound, and the list price is $2.3 million.

The best headline remains one of the very first, from LA Weekly: “The Dude’s Abode.” It’s not often that commenters chime in to compliment an outlet on a headline, but in this case, there are several hat tips for Sarah LaBrie. Deservedly so.
