Josh Ackerman Mulls Over Possible Reality TV Show Settings

We couldn’t resist. At the end of our Mediabistro “Hey, How’d You Do That?” conversation with Bodega Pictures co-founder Josh Ackerman, we wondered what the busy producer thought about the potential of a couple of reality TV show settings.

TischSchoolLogoAckerman, once a teenage co-star of Disney Channel’s The All New Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera, currently has two shows on the air (Tru TV’s South Beach Tow, Food Network’s On the Rocks) and several other reality programs in active development. He agreed that the setting of a print media company trying to make the successful transition to digital was fertile. He was also intrigued by the idea of shooting a show at his NYU Alma Mater:

Could the Tisch School be a reality show?

Wow. I’m sure it’s evolved a lot since I was there, but yes. I think that the students are fascinating. I would have to go and see what’s going on there, and embed myself a little bit. You need comedy, conflict, characters. There are so many different things that the networks are now looking for, that you kind of go crazy trying to really think about whether you checked off everything. You just have really trust yourself and trust the story that you’re trying to convey.

None of Christina Aguilera’s BFFs Are Bloggers

There was a memorable industry Q&A today at the W Hotel in Hollywood. The occasion was the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Conference; the interviewee, singer and The Voice judge Christina Aguilera:

“Now everyone is a critic,” she said with a smile, on the subject of the tabloid press and online bloggers. “I don’t read blogs. It’s just God-knows-who in Buttf— wherever writing hate sh–. You can’t take it seriously. I’m sure you’ve all been hated on at some point by Buttf— people.”

Taking Aguilera’s analogy to its logical extreme, FishbowlLA checked out the blogs on the Internet’s two leading platforms that are literally parked at Buttf—. This will probably be only small consolation to Ms. Aguilera, but there is nothing posted at the Blogspot namesake, while WordPress Buttf— is in a foreign language.

The founder of Infusion Music Group and former vice president of Death Row Records, Atterberry previously worked on albums for Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson, and Brandy.

Brehm was later shot and killed by LAPD officers after reportedly firing 20 rounds. According to his Facebook page, he had broken up with his girlfriend days prior to the shooting.

Lunch: Jane Fonda & Jerry Seinfeld — That’s Entertainment!

— DIANE CLEHANE

It’s always those random celebrity sightings at Michael’s that make my weekly Wednesday visits much more fun. Today certainly didn’t disappoint. When a little birdie told me Jerry Seinfeld would be holding court on table one today, I knew I was in for it. When he strolled in sporting a baseball cap and jeans, it seemed he was trying to keep a low profile, but as soon as he opened his mouth, every head in the vicinity swiveled in his direction. He pretended not to notice and took a quick look around the dining room before settling in at table one with Trident Media’s Dan Strone. I’m thinking Jerry’s got another book in the offing. If not, he might have gotten an idea for one by the time lunch was over — every time I glanced his way, I got the distinct impression he was gathering material. He looked more than a little amused at the scene as the rest of the crowd strained to check him out on the sly. Across the room, Jane Fonda (who made her second appearance of the week) also opted for a low profile, hiding behind her shades for much of her lunch with Pat Mitchell — then the gals ducked out early. But not before my pal Beverly Camhe got a chance to chat with Jane about a possible appearance at the Center for Peace in Berlin. Then, the tireless Bev joined me at the bar and gave me the scoop on the hit of the Hamptons Film Festival (she’s on the advisory board) — the new documentary from two Australian filmmakers on Dominick Dunne. Bev reports that Dominick flew in just for the premiere and was “very moved” by the film. “He was thrilled,” says Bev. “He was nervous beforehand because it was an act of faith since he didn’t know these guys. It turned out great and everyone loved it.” We’re thrilled for Nick. Congrats!

Here’s the rundown on today’s crowd:

1. Jerry Seinfeld and Trident Media’s Dan Strone

2. Peter Brown, Frank Bowling and pals

3. ‘Mayor’ Joe Armstrong and Sotheby’s Jamie Niven

4. Arnold Scaasi (who felt compelled to prune the bountiful fall arrangement behind his table before sitting down), Parker Ladd and a gal named Judy, so we’re told …

Nicole Richie’s Baby Officially Better Than Christina Aguilera’s

28868033947c737544fd94.jpgPeople magazine devoted a cover each to new moms Nicole Richie and Christina Aguilera, who each delivered their spawn a day a part at Cedars Sinai.

Both mammas sold their baby’s first pics for obscene sums, but in Nicole’s case, that might have been a good investment for the mag, which is on target to sell more than 1.8 million copies.

Aguilera’s numbers, it’s been widely reported, have been far more disappointing.

We’d feel bad reducing a child’s value to a dollar sign — if the moms hadn’t beaten us to it.

Imus’ MSNBC Replacement Thinks America Is A ‘Nation Of Sissies’

smerconish_msnbc.jpgAccording to several reports, MSNBC is getting set to fill the slot formerly occupied by Don Imus slot with Philadelphia radio host Michael Smerconish. But if MSNBC was looking for a quiet, non-controversial host in a post-Imus world, they may have to look harder. Smerconish has a history of controversial statements — including, ironically, what he called “the sissification of America,” claiming that political correctness has made the United States “a nation of sissies.”

A selected history of Smerconish’s thoughts on Muslims, women and detainees [via Media Matters]:

Meatpacking Protesters Annoy Christina Aguilera, Nylon Party

Partygoers lining up outside Hotel Gansevoort for Nylon‘s 8th anniversary rooftop bash Wednesday night were treated to thongs, er, throngs of sign-wielding and bucket-banging Meatpacking District residents none-too-thrilled with the hotel’s plan to put up a billboard in their ‘hood.

Once inside, though, it took revelers roughly two SoCo-with-limes and an hourlong “gifting suite” — open to all attendees — to forget about the silly little protest on the street some 14 floors below. (“What’s the big deal about a billboard? Look at these jeans!”)

Christina Aguilera, the evening’s host, eventually showed, as did Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Lance Bass, who sang-along to Bass’ former boy-band boy Justin Timberlake‘s “Sexy Back.”

Other FBNY notables: Alan Cumming, Run-D.M.C.’s Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, Eve, Page Sixer Corynne Steindler with her sister, and Daily News Gatecrasher Ben Widdicome sporting an impressive Boris Becker beard.
