Jezebel Deputy Editor Says Goodbye

“Friends: Today is my last day at Jezebel.”

FusionLogoSo begins deputy editor Dodai Stewart‘s farewell missive, posted this afternoon after seven years of service with the Gawker Media site. Her post follows an internal email obtained earlier in the day and shared by BuzzFeed reporter Myles Tanzer, confirming that Dodai is joining Fusion as director of culture coverage.

Stewart recalls the email she sent to a blind Gawker email address, to get the Jezebel ball rolling:

My email to specialproject@gawker (or whatever) was written addressed to Anna Wintour; the body of the missive contained a serrated critique of everything I hated about Vogue: lack of diversity, focus on prohibitively priced couture, fetishization of thinness, dedication to nepotism and cronyism, etc. I believe the email ended, “But I still buy it. Love, Dodai.”

Jezebel Staffers Disappointed with New Editor

Jezebel’s incoming editor — Emma Carmichael — doesn’t start until September, but she’s already involved in some drama. According to Capital New York, several of Jezebel’s staffers are upset that Carmichael (who is white) was chosen over Jezebel’s deputy editorDodai Stewart (who is black).

Stewart has been with Jezebel since 2007, and apparently many thought she was the perfect choice to take over the site from Jessica Coen. “I know we were all really rooting for her,” said one staffer. Instead, Nick Denton opted to bring in Carmichael, and the rumblings began:

I wouldn’t say that we’re unhappy with Emma at all, but… we had like a really optimal choice that they passed over.

Translation: We’re unhappy they picked Emma.

Dina Lohan Threatens Glee With Legal Action

Dina Lohan is seriously pissed about Tuesday night’s episode of Glee. The episode featured guest star Gwyneth Paltrow as a substitute Spanish teacher who poked fun at Lindsay Lohan as part of her lesson plan. “Lindsay Lohan is totally crazy, right?” she asked her student en español, and “How many times has Lindsay been in rehab?” (the answer is cinco).

Dina told website Gossip Cop that her lawyers are sending a letter to Glee about the, uh, defamation. And then a rep added some self-righteous drivel about how addiction is no laughing matter, or some such nonsense.

As Dodai Stewart of Jezebel noted, she might as well try to sue the entire internet.

Now if Dina wants to sue Glee over the show’s G-rated, gutless cover of Cee Lo Green‘s “Fuck You,” we are behind her all the way. Oh Cee Lo. How could you let this happen?
