The Atlantic Adds to Communications Team

The Atlantic has named Anna Bross senior director of communications. Bross comes to The Atlantic from NPR, where she served as director of media relations. Bross had been with NPR since 2007.

“I am delighted to welcome Anna to our growing Atlantic family,” said The Atlantic’s president, M. Scott Havens, in a statement. “Anna not only brings a deep expertise in communications strategy, but also a clear understanding of news across all media platforms, and a true spirit of collaboration.”

Bross begins on February 20. She will report to Emily Lenzner, Atlantic Media’s VP of global communications.

Quartz Names Communications Director, Kiplinger Adds Investing Reporter

  • Emily Passer has been named communications director of Quartz, the business site from Atlantic Media. Passer comes to Quartz from The Financial Times. She’ll report to Emily Lenzner, Atlantic Media VP of global communications.
  • Carolyn Bigda, a veteran of Money, is joining Kiplinger as a contributing editor. At Money, Bigda focused on investing reporting, and she’ll be doing the same for Kiplinger.

Linda Douglass Reduces Role at Atlantic Media

Linda Douglass is reducing her role at Atlantic Media. Douglass had been with the company since 2010, serving as senior VP, global communications. According to a memo, she is shifting to a part-time, consulting position, because she wants to “experiment with the concept of more free time.”

Succeeding Douglass is Emily Lenzner, who comes to Altantic Media from her own consulting firm. She also served as executive director of communications for ABC News’ Washington DC bureau.
