Ireland Baldwin’s Significant Other Raps Media for ‘BFF’ Coverage

Earlier this month, the Daily Mail headlined Detroit-born rapper Angel Haze as Ireland Baldwin‘s “BFF.”

According to a revealing interview given by Haze to UK’s The Independent, that’s just one of many examples of some double-standard same-sex couple coverage:

“I don’t know if there’s like some confirm or deny thing with the way relationships work in the media, but everyone just calls us best friends, best friends for life, like we’re just friends hanging out. It’s funny. It’s rad in some way, it sucks in others.”

“There are still certain limitations for women. If we were two guys, it’d be insane, negatively insane with the attention. With us, it’s all being very positive. The media are like, ‘Oh they’re so cute, they’re best friends’…

Ronan Farrow Racks Up Three Quick Strikes

RonanFarrowDaily[The following is a transcript from the FishbowlNY play-by-play booth.]

“Now batting… Ronan Farrow, the handsome young son of Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra. Check that… Our statistician has just informed us that contrary to information circulated earlier, Ronan is in fact the son of Farrow and Woody Allen. Our apologies.”

“OK; Farrow steps into the national media box. Here’s the first pitch and, whoosh! Farrow swings for the fences and misses. Ratings for his Monday MSNBC debut averaged just 46,000 viewers.”

“Farrow is back in the box… for a called strike two! We’re not sure about that one; it looked a little outside. According the the Daily News, this unproven celebrity farm system prospect “doesn’t yet pop off the screen with the kind of distinctive personality that sets the likes of Bill O’Reilly, Rachel Maddow or Anderson Cooper apart.”"

One Night Only: Madonna at Macy’s

Actually, Madonna herself won’t be at Macy’s Westfield Century City, Main Floor, Level 1 tomorrow night from 6 to 8 p.m. But fans can still count on seeing eight of the singer’s most iconic outfits and saying hi to the superstar’s longtime costume collaborator Arianne Phillips. It’s all part of a special one-night-only pop-up event titled “Madonna’s Fashion Evolution.”

The Macy’s connection comes from the fact that the singer has for several years been selling through the department store chain a “Material Girl” clothing line designed with daughter Lola. The corresponding Twitter account @MaterialGirl currently has more than 80,000 followers. From the announcement:

Madonna personally handpicked eight of her favorite costumes from a vast archive of tour costumes and her personal collection for the exhibition. The cone bustiers were flown in from a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit in Amsterdam, her “Like A Virgin” wedding dress is on loan from the Hard Rock Cafe, while the remaining items are from Madonna’s personal archives.

Jury of Your Peers

Phil Spector’s trial includes a juror who’s a producer for NBC but a guy with a blog gets tossed from the Will & Grace case.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

There’s no truth to the rumor that Ireland Baldwin has been begging Madonna to adopt her.

Un-Connected

California Connected, KCET’s public affairs show, pulls the plug due to lack of funding, says EP Bret Marcus, whose relocation package was reputed to come out of the production budget. Is Marley sorry now? And another’s dream is shattered.
