OC Reporter Lowers the Bar for Journos Far and Wide

We just can’t stop cringing. Yeesh.

Christina Hoag at NBCLA writes:

A reporter for a small newspaper was forcibly removed from a press area near Air Force One shortly before President Barack Obama arrived at Los Angeles International Airport to depart California early Thursday.

Secret Service personnel remove Brenda Lee from near Air Force One after Lee attempted to give President Obama a letter, Thursday May 28, 2009, at LAX.

Airport security officers carried the woman away by the feet and arms as she protested her removal.

She later identified herself as Brenda Lee, a writer for the Georgia Informer in Macon and said she has White House press credentials. The newspaper’s Web site says it is a monthly publication, and a Brenda Lee column is posted on it.

Lee identified herself as Roman Catholic priestess living in Anaheim.

It takes real talent to make Jeff Gannon look professional.

Salon Takes on WSJ

greenwald_art.gifSalon’s Glenn Greenwald caught the Wall Street Journal in a bold-face bending of facts. A revising of the record. A big fat falsity.

The editorial in the WSJ said:

We doubt that President Bush, who was notorious for being parsimonious with follow-ups, would have gotten away with prescreening his interlocutors.

Greenwald corrected the record.

We once got an opportunity to meet Helen Thomas. Our first question to her was about Jeff Gannon, the most famous of Bush’s ‘prescreened his interlocutors’ (you know, the gay male prostitute from a fake/super thin/barely one by definition newspaper Talon News). Gannon, with his White House press credentials liked to launch fluffy softball inquiries at President Bush. Convenient.

We wanted to know how that happened. Thomas’ quick response was,”He wasn’t the only one.” And then in a bitter twist of irony – she was whisked away before we could have a follow-up question.
