John Q. Griffin, one of Jack Griffin‘s hires, is leaving his post as President of the News Group at Time Inc. The move, according to paidContent, is amicable.
John Q. had been with Time for just under six months. He tells Adweek that he’s uncertain about what the future holds, explaining that he plans to “just read a little bit and have some fun. I hope I’m not done.”

Big moves at Time Inc. today. Romenesko is reporting that the company promoted Mark Ford to Executive Vice President and President of the new Sports Group, and John Q. Griffin to Executive Vice President and President of the just created News Group. Additionally, Kim Kelleher is now Time magazine’s Publisher, and Frank Wall is Publisher of Sports Illustrated. Both Ford and Griffin will report directly to Time Inc. CEO Jack Griffin.
Ford will be overseeing new product initiatives, SI.com and other online ventures, while John Griffin will be in charge of Time, Fortune, their respective websites and their international editions.
The new positions all become effective January 3rd, but we don’t expect that to keep their kids from asking for bigger holiday presents.
