Former KFI Host Defends LA City Council Resolution

Freelance radio columnist Richard Wagoner has a good write-up about LA City Council’s passage last week of a resolution condemning racist and sexist comments on AM-FM talk show airwaves.

Wagoner rightly reminds that since this issue falls under FCC jurisdiction, the March 21 resolution is “essentially meaningless.” Nevertheless, KFI has issued a statement of support for the resolution, which was actually backed in-chamber by former KFI station personality John Ziegler. From the article:

Ziegler, a KFI host from 2003 to 2007, has expressed concern about John and Ken for several years. “As someone who has been falsely accused of making racist statements in the past, I am very hesitant to accuse anyone of such a thing, but I do believe that John Kobylt is a racist,” Ziegler said in an earlier interview.

Filmmaker John Ziegler Critical Of Obama Press Coverage On The Menu

mmm_2-3.gifToday on the mediabistro.com Morning Media Menu podcast, filmmaker John Ziegler didn’t hold back his opinions about press coverage of President Barack Obama.

“The speech that he gave this morning in Egypt was just flabbergasting. And of course as always he’s being greeted by 80 percent of the media as another gift from the Messiah,” said Ziegler, who is currently touring the country with his film “Media Malpractice” about the 2008 presidential election.

Ziegler also spoke his mind about this week’s in depth profile of Obama on NBC. “Monica Lewinsky never dreamed of doing to Bill Clinton some of the things that Brian Williams did to Barack Obama during that two-part special in the Oval Office,” he said. “Virtually everything the man does is seen in rainbows and flowers and puppy dogs. Even when something negative happens the press goes out of its way to differentiate the government from Obama.”

Ziegler also spoke about his film and the warm reception is has received, plans for upcoming projects, his take on Katie Couric‘s interview of Sarah Palin and whether he says outrageous things to gain notoriety. “I don’t edit myself or censor myself for fear of what the reaction might be,” he explained.

CA Right-Wing Radio Becomes Victim of Right-Wing Conspiracy

ON AIR.JPGAfter the Republicans were in power for eight years (with totally unchecked and unprecedented power for six years), the economy tanked. Tanked like very few people alive have ever seen. Big old sloppy right-wing valued, freed market meltdown – tank.

And because of wide-reaching powers becoming a wide-reaching recession, the once wide-reaching California right-wing radio is the latest casualty of the economy.

LAT’s Michael Finnegan reports:

But for all the anti-tax swagger and the occasional stunts by personalities like KFI’s John and Ken, the reality is that conservative talk radio in California is on the wane. The economy’s downturn has depressed ad revenue at stations across the state, thinning the ranks of conservative broadcasters.

For that and other reasons, stations have dropped the shows of at least half a dozen radio personalities and scaled back others, in some cases replacing them with cheaper nationally syndicated programs.

Casualties include Mark Larson in San Diego, Larry Elder and John Ziegler in Los Angeles, Melanie Morgan in San Francisco, and Phil Cowen and Mark Williams in Sacramento.

Didn’t the monster Dr. Frankenstein created eventually kill him and his family?

Jon Stewart Takes on Sarah Palin Part Two

This is Jon Stewart doing a segment about Sarah Palin and her appearance in the nutty John Ziegler documentary about how Republicans lost the 2008 election. Hint: it’s because they were beat up by big bad mainstream media and if only little off stream media who totally agree with their ideology, didn’t report the negative stuff (like the fact there was another candidate who wasn’t 117 years old) the Republicans would be in the White House again.

Palin says that Tina Fey and Katie Couric exploited her and,”It says a lot about our society.”

Stewart asks,”That we value talented women?”

Number 285, Why We Love Nate Silver

Nate_Silver_art_160_20080602070623.jpg
Wicked smart numbers dude Nate Silver interviewed our local ex-KFI blowhard John Ziegler about his new project…something about how everyone is wrong but him and people who agree with him.

Anyway, the whole interview is worth a read but here’s our favorite:

NS: Well, since you’re running a website calling people misinformed, I’d like to see if – there are certain things you’ve said that I would consider misinformed.

JZ: Misinformed? You’re a piece of work! You are never going to have the guts to post a representative transcript on your website! I thought you actually ran a legitimate website!

NS: Thank you, have a good day.

JZ: Go fuck yourself.
