Condé Nast Underwrites Bruce Weber Exhibition

DetroitBruceWeberAhead of tomorrow’s official opening of Detroit – Bruce Weber, the famed photographer was joined by Anna Wintour and a “phalanx of impeccably coiffed Condé Nast officials” for a special media day preview. From Detroit Free Press staff writer Mark Stryker‘s report;

Detroit Institute of Arts officials declined to say how much money Condé Nast contributed to the exhibition, but [museum] chief operating officer Annmarie Erickson called it “substantial.”

The images in the show were drawn mostly from two extended trips that Weber made to Detroit on assignment, the first in 2006 for an expansive W magazine spread with model Kate Moss and the second last year for an ad campaign for Shinola.

Kate Moss to Pose Naked for Playboy’s 60th Anniversary Issue

Attention creepy old dudes who subscribe to Playboy: Kate Moss — who will be 40 years old in January — is taking it all off for the magazine. The Los Angeles Times reports that the model will grace the cover of Playboy’s 60th anniversary issue and be featured inside.

Jimmy Jellinek, Playboy’s editorial director, told the LA Times that Moss made sense because she is “a global icon.” She was also willing to get naked for money. That probably helped.

“You’re talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy,” added Jellinek. ”She’s the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years.”

Moss’ shoot was overseen by Marcus Pigott and Mert Atlas. As you can see from the photo above, the duo had Moss pose in typical Playboy duds, like bunny ears, French cuffs and black stockings.

The longer you stare at that photo the weirder it gets. Why did Playboy ever deem rabbits sexy? They’re kind of gross when you think about it. They’re basically rats with bigger ears.

Anyway, Playboy’s 60th anniversary issue hits newsstands early next month.

Kate Moss Joins Vogue as Contributing Editor

Kate Moss GKate Moss — yes that Kate Moss — is joining British Vogue as a contributing fashion editor. WWD reports that Moss will work with Vogue’s stylists and have her choice of photographers and models.

British Vogue’s editor, Alexandra Shulman, told WWD that Moss was a natural addition to the editorial team, explaining that her “depth of fashion knowledge and understanding of what makes a wonderful image will be exciting to see.” Moss’ first piece is set to debut next spring.

We honestly have no concept of Moss aside from “That skinny model known for looking like she loved heroin,” so we’re going to withhold judgement here.
