Drew Barrymore’s Wine Business Off to a Golden Start

Have you caught up to Drew Barrymore’s Pinot Grigio yet? The 2011 vintage recently won a gold medal at France’s prestigious Challenge International du Vin and continues to generate a healthy pour of media coverage, most recently in the LA Times and Angeleno magazine.

The Golden Globe winning actress engaged in a familiar development curve for this project, but gets to attach a price tag that is higher than a 3D movie ticket. From Barrymore’s Angeleno Q&A with Lesley McKenzie:

“I’ve always loved Pinot Grigio when I’m drinking white [and] I’ve always loved Italian wines. When I came across this one, I was thoughtful about the process, but I really fell in love with it. And I really want to be in love with things or I’m terrible at explaining why I want anything to do with them.”

The Country’s Largest Publisher of City Magazines Adds to its Los Angeles Team

LOS ANGELES, California March 2, 2011–Modern Luxury Media’s Vice President of Editorial, Beth Weitzman, announced Lesley McKenzie has been named the Editor-in-Chief of Angeleno magazine. McKenzie comes to Modern Luxury from Niche Media, where she was the Deputy Editor of Los Angeles Confidential for two years. Prior to this, she served as Managing Editor of several Niche Media titles including Michigan Avenue, which she helped successfully launch. Read more

Staff Changes At Los Angeles Confidential

Los Angeles Confidential is a lifestyle magazine that targets the affluent, which is why we don’t read it. We’re not supposed to. But clearly someone must be checking it out, as the publication recently added to their staff. Sari Tuschman, formerly of E! Entertainment Television has been named editor-in-chief. Lesley McKenzie was promoted to deputy editor from sister publication Michigan Avenue. Alison Miller has been appointed publisher, and Jason Binn, CEO and founder of parent company Niche Media, has taken on the role of editorial director.
