Matt Donnelly: Yet Another Journo Joins Buzznet

DSC02809.JPG

Matt Donnelly leaves E! (again), and this time — maybe — for good! Donnelly informed us that “after a great couple of months with Ken Baker and his team, I’m headed back to writing (after newsgathering with Ken) and reporting for Buzznet‘s Celebuzz.”

As we reported earlier, Jeff Leeds and Leslie Simon are already on board, and the place “is exploding.”

Congratulations, Matt!

Buzznet Taps Former NYT Writer to be EIC

buzznet_logo.pngBuzznet announced today that it has hired Jeff Leeds, former New York Times music reporter, as Editor-in-Chief. It is a newly created position and Leeds will be responsible for leading the expansion of editorial offerings on Buzznet, which will combine “the best original news, commentary, photos, and other contributions from staff writers and the site’s millions of community members.” He will also direct editorial strategy at Buzznet, and manage editors at the company’s partner sites, Stereogum, Absolute Punk, Idolator, Vampire Freaks, FOE, and The Gauntlet.

In addition, Buzznet has also hired former Alternative Press magazine managing editor Leslie Simon to fill the role of senior editor. Full release after the jump.

Social Media Site Hires Real Journalists…Yippee

buzznet_logo.pngWe’ll say that the decline of print newspapers and their revenue is an ‘adjustment’. That’s what talking heads called bank failures before they described them as Armageddon. It was an economic adjustment. Then it was the Fourth Horseman.

Anyway, with the ongoing media industry adjustment, Buzznet, described as a ‘social media community for music’ hired NYT music reporter Jeff Leeds as their new editor-in-chief and Leslie Simon as senior editor.

Our sources tell us Buzznet’s offices are in Hollywood on Sunset. A Buzznet employee told FBLA,”Buzznet is expanding. It’s blowing up. When I started here [2006] it was like ten people in a warehouse.”

So, the canary is still alive.
