Los Angeles Editor Throws Musicians Down a Hill… In the Name of Fashion!

We all know musicians can be a pain in the ass. So if you’re an editor trying to shoot a band for a high-end fashion package, you can’t fuck around. You do whatever you need to do. Tasked with just such an endeavor for Los Angeles‘ May issue, senior editor Linda Immediato took the LA band Silversun Pickups, dressed them up in Prada and threw them down a hill.

“I’ll be the first to admit it wasn’t easy, they put up quite a fight,” Immediato tells us. “I had to pull out a few weight leveraging moves I learned in karate classes. I hit them with a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to the back of the knees and they just tumbled over, both of them, like bowling pins. I felt proud at first, but then the tears started. It was their pride I think that hurt the most. But we hugged it out over some Dos Equis and I convinced them it was all done in the great name of fashion.”

Nice to see you’re fitting in well over at Los Angeles, Linda. Here’s hoping they put you in charge of political coverage soon, because we can think of a few (thousand) politicians we’d like to see get the hill (volcano!) photo-shoot treatment.

Behind-the-scenes video of Immediato and Silversun Pickups in action after the jump.

Pasadena Magazine Names Steffie Nelson as New EIC

Interim editor Steffie Nelson has been named the new editor-in-chief of Pasadena Magazine, she tells FishbowlLA. Nelson is a former associate editor at The New York Times Magazine who moved to LA in 2005. Since arriving here, she’s written for The LA Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, GOOD, LA Weekly and Los Angeles.

Officially, Nelson was named EIC last month. But we held off on writing something up until we got a picture out of her. Worth the wait. Nice shot!

Nelson takes over for Linda Immediato, who left to become Los Angeles magazine’s senior editor last October.

Linda Immediato New Senior Editor of Los Angeles Magazine

After two years on the job, Pasadena magazine editor-in-chief Linda Immediato is stepping down to take a new gig as a senior editor at Los Angeles magazine. LA Observed has the LA mag memo announcing her hire. Her last day at Pasadena was on Friday.

Immediato is a former LA Weekly staffer who covered fashion, culture, and nightlife for the paper and was a founding member of the Style Council blog. She tells us her new gig will leave her “largely in charge of style” at Los Angeles, but that she’ll be overseeing other pieces too.

Congrats, Linda!

If You’re a Pasadena Magazine Subscriber You Can Read a Jonathan Gold Piece

pasadena_monthly_masthead.gifPasadena, that super quaint ‘burb home to that “little old lady” song muse, has their own magazine. For real. And it’s not available on the Internet. It is, however, available at our dentist’s office. And what better place to read about food than a den of dentistry?

Anyway, Jonathan Gold is now writing about food in Pasadena. Former LA Weekly staffer Linda Immediato now managing editor of Pasadena Magazine scored the Pulitzer winner.

Sounds like he’s not bailing to New York anytime soon.

We may have mentioned once or twice that our preferred method of dealing with the economic downturn and the collapse of print media is alcoholism. To that end, your FBLA editors gathered at a Silverlake bar last night with some of LA’s finest underemployed scribes.

    Linda Immediato Leaves LA Weekly

Brady Westwater alerts us to the departure of Linda Immediato from the LA Weekly:

Anyhoo, gotta say a big, big bravo to Linda Immediato, who tirelessly covered Fashion Week down to its smallest thread, here on Style Council and in the paper, the past two weeks, and of course seasons past. Alas, it was her last hurrah, as my dear S.C. co-hort has left the Weekly to do more exciting things in the world of journalism. You go girl!

Immediato is such a cool name–she should lose the Linda and join the ranks of the mono-named.
