USC Wants You to #BELEEVE in Marqise Lee

Move over, Matt Barkley.

USC is now throwing their support behind sophomore wide receiver Marqise Lee for the Heisman Trophy award with a new promotional campaign asking fans if they #BELEEVE in No. 9.

Despite their disappointing 6-3 record, Lee is having a remarkable season and is arguably the best receiving prospect in college football.

As always, a real slick video from the folks over at USC Athletics.

USC Football Billboard Removed from Westwood

You know college football is right around the corner when billboards featuring the opposition start popping up in each other’s neighborhood.

A USC billboard went up on Westwood Boulevard and Lindbrook Drive featuring USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy favorite Matt Barkley with the words “WE PLAY TO FINISH.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, it’s one of 30 billboards that are featured throughout Los Angeles.

Well, make that 29.

Daily Bruin Reflects on 50-0 Loss to USC

For USC fans, Saturday night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was the perfect ending to the 2011 season as the Trojans defeated their crosstown rivals 50-0.

For UCLA fans, they were left wishing their season was over, but the Pac-12 South “champs” will travel to Oregon for an opportunity to play in the 2012 Rose Bowl.

Daily Bruin columnist Ryan Eshoff reflected on his thoughts, which sums up how a majority of Westwood must be feeling Monday:

It was one of those games where the details don’t even end up mattering all that much. Sure, USC quarterback Matt Barkley put up gaudy numbers. Even Kevin Prince had, statistically, one of his more productive passing games. Usually, there’s some silver lining to be found in the numbers. Here, though, only one thing matters.

USC Launches Matt Barkley Heisman Campaign

All it took was an upset victory against No. 4 Oregon on the road at Autzen Stadium for the USC athletic department to start a Heisman Trophy campaign for quarterback Matt Barkley.

Barkley threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns Saturday as the Trojans held on to a 38-35 victory over the Ducks.

The Newport Beach junior has numbers similar to that of previous USC Heisman winners Carson Palmer (2002) and Matt Leinart (2004) through 11 games.

Hurting Barkley’s chances of even receiving an invite to the Dec. 10 ceremony in New York is USC’s ongoing probation and bowl ban. He has one last game to impress Heisman voters when the Trojans host crosstown rivals UCLA Saturday night at the Coliseum.
