NBC4 Apologizes for Using Incorrect LA Kings Logo

Classy move Tuesday night as NBC4 apologized for using the Sacramento Kings logo instead of the Los Angeles Kings logo Monday night during a story about the local playoff picture.

Far too often mistakes are made on live TV and the networks pretend it never happened. It also helps when you have such a strong Twitter presence like the Kings do.

Anchor Michelle Valles Joins NBC4

Award-winning broadcast journalist Michelle Valles has been hired by NBC4 as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter, the station announced Wednesday.

Valles spent the last two years acting, appearing in musicals and writing a magazine column for Austin Man, where she gave a “woman’s perceptive” on men’s topics.

“I can’t begin to tell you how honored I am to be working with such a talented group of news professionals,” Valles said in a statement. “NBC4 is known for its history of integrity and I’m thrilled to become a part of it.”

Welcome to Los Angeles, Lolita Lopez

FishbowlNY’s Jerry Barmash spoke exclusively to anchor Lolita Lopez, who starts Monday as a general assignment reporter for NBC4:

Once KNBC offered Lopez a full-time reporter position, she discussed it with her husband and young daughter, but was a no brainer.

“Let’s do it,” Lopez recalls. “I’m 35, still relatively young… I just thought it was a good opportunity if I was going to try something new and completely different to do it now.”

In the end, Lopez and KNBC had a marriage, but not before feelers went out to many other stations, including several in New York. Lopez also had possible opportunities at networks.

“When I sat down and thought of what I wanted to do, I liked the fact of being in a city,” Lopez says. “I like what I was able to do in New York, I hope, which was be a part of the city.”
