Taking a Lunch Break… Instead, Here’s a Shot of Miley Cyrus (Gasp!) Tastefully Dressed

Lunch At Michaels

Our intrepid Lunch columnist Diane Clehane won’t be covering the scene at Michael’s today because she was up until the wee hours last night as one of the producers of The Fashion Group International’s 30th Annual Night of Stars event.

Diane was on full diva duty, wrangling Miley Cyrus (who came fully dressed and didn’t twerk once!) and Aretha Franklin and running the red carpet, where she witnessed Superstar Award honoree Marc Jacobs trading air kisses with Sofia Coppola, Olivia Munn and Kate Upton. After all that hobnobbing, we figured she could use a day off.

But, no worries, she’ll be back at her regular perch next week. In the meantime, here are some recent Lunch columns (and photos of Marc and Miley after the jump).

Fjellestad is himself a musician and current artist-in-residence at the Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood, where he programs and hosts the monthly concert series ResBox.

Three More Jeers for Hollywood Foreign Press

It’s business as usual in Tinseltown. As in – everyone makes fun of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) but still kowtows to the annual Golden Globes fanfare (2010 nominations are out tomorrow).

It really doesn’t matter that Rescue Me‘s Peter Tolan called the organization “a bunch of whores” last Wednesday, or that The Wrap leaked an accusatory letter this weekend from bounced publicist Michael Russell. Nor is it too concerning for the HFPA that Roger Friedman has an item today about seven members taking credited roles in Sofia Coppola‘s newest movie.

‘Why I Hate Blacks’ Writer Not Sorry: ‘If I’m A Racist Then So Is Sofia Coppola’

kenneth_eng.jpgKenneth Eng, the writer and former NYU student who set off a firestorm over an article entitled “Why I Hate Blacks” published in Asian Week, told Fox News’ John Gibson that he doesn’t regret anything:

GIBSON: You don’t have any regrets about saying something as overtly racist as you hate somebody because they’re black or because they’re white?

ENG: Evidently Sofia Coppola and Quentin Tarantino have nothing against that and neither does Shaquille O’Neal and Chris Tucker. So I have no regrets at all.

The transcript only gets more insane from there:

GIBSON: Why do you hate blacks?

ENG: Well, you know, just to be blunt, 90 percent of them usually walk up to me and call me, you know, like for instance, ching-chong and stuff like that. I mean, I don’t really give a damn, but you know, I mean, after a while it gets pretty damn annoying. And not to mention they get so much media attention. But you know, I mean aside from that, you probably want to know why I call myself the god of the universe as well.
