Drudge Links Fuel Judd Apatow/Girls/TCA Incident Debate

DrugeGirlsThe only thing better for a Web outlet item than a Drudge Report link is a Drudge Report double-link. As the Miami muckracker and his cohorts sometimes like to do, EW‘s pick-up of a weird incident yesterday at the TCA Winter Session in Pasadena is today basking in the flow of a double Fedora tip. And per usual, the reader comments at the linked end are piling up fast and furiously.

There were well over 2,000 comments at press time below the EW item. We obviously didn’t have time to go through them all, but of the first few hundred scanned, below are a pair of the more cogent observations. Short incident summary: At Thursday’s TCA HBO session, TheWrap’s Tim Molloy wondered what the point of Lena Dunham‘s constant nudity in Girls was and when he asked a well-worded question to that effect, Judd Apatow came to the show star’s very protective defense, from the stage (alongside fellow executive producers Dunham, Jenni Konner) and then afterwards with reporters:

Mike Tyson’s Latest Career Move Involves a ‘Fowl-Mouthed’ Pigeon

Seth MacFarlane, Trey Parker and Matt Stone can all claim a legacy piece of Mike Tyson Mysteries, a new weekly quarter-hour show green lit for Adult Swim. The show will mix in live-action footage of Tyson with a cartoon sidekick that owes a lot to Stewie Griffin and Cartman.

Per a report by TheWrap TV editor Tim Molloy:

Armed with a magical tattoo on his face and a trusty associate by his side — a talking pigeon — if you have a problem that needs solving, Iron Mike is in your corner. The series incorporates live-action appearances featuring Mighty Mike himself, and the gloves come off as the former heavyweight champ and his fowl-mouthed partner gear up for weekly adventures as they put unsolved mysteries.

Jethro Nededog Follows Joseph Kapsch to TheWrap

Lots going on these days at TheWrap. As we previously reported, Joseph Kapsch is set to begin Monday March 25 as deputy managing editor. Also, in a separate, unrelated move, Jon Thurber has been completing his tenure at the outlet this week.

Now comes word of another hire very closely connected to the incoming deputy editor. Jethro Nededog (pictured), Kapsch’s longtime friend and colleague at Zap2it, The Hollywood Reporter and Celebuzz (where he is currently), will be starting at TheWrap April 1 as senior TV writer. He will report to Tim Molloy.

The news was shared internally this afternoon with the trade’s hard-working staff and included the following quotes:

Nededog: “I’m ecstatic about joining the TheWrap team. Not only does it bring me back to the caliber of stories that I enjoy writing and breaking, but I get a chance to work and learn from some talented people who I’ve looked up to, including Tim Molloy, Joseph Kapsch and, of course, Sharon Waxman.”
