Sarah Palin at the Beverly Hilton Alongside a Monkey? You Betcha!

Canadian journo Bill Brioux is not alone. Although TV critics have taken in some odd sights over the years at the TCA Winter and Summer sessions, last night’s poolside NBC party at the Beverly Hilton had them buzzing on Twitter about a possible new watershed.

Blogs Brioux this morning:

These bleary eyes have seen strange sights but the strangest I ever did see, was the night Sarah Palin stole the show from a monkey and NBC.

And I’ve seen some strange sights. I’ve seen grown men struggle to get a usable quote from Ozzy Osbourne. I’ve seen Jay Leno, disguised as a reporter, gooning the head of his own network. I’ve seen Lifetime attempt to impose a cash bar. Tuesday night’s NBC cocktail reception may go down as the oddest press tour sight of them all.

Sarah Palin Struggles to Name Influential Journalists at Correspondents’ Dinner

Sarah Palin, who rocketed to fame after being unable to form a single coherent answer during an interview with Katie Couric, had a similar moment after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

At the MSNBC after party, NBC’s blog NBCU Direct asked several famous attendees the following question: “Who do you think is the most influential journalist today?”

This actually turned out to be an amazing question choice. Some had answers right off the top of their head: Eliot Spitzer confidently chose Brian Williams, based on his viewership, followed by Jon Stewart. SNL’s Bill Hader got credit for choosing a non-TV personality, The New Yorker‘s David Grann.  But others struggled to even come up with a name (or seemed reluctant to name someone other than themselves, like Bret Baier).

Sarah Palin, well, she was one of the people who struggled. When asked she responded, “Oh my goodness, that’s a great question!” with excessive brightness, before asking her husband Todd Palin what he thought.

Todd had nothing

Palin returned,  “Um, gosh, that’s a great question, I have to think about it, OK? Because there are many.”

At that moment she walked up to Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren, with whom she was attending the MSNBC party, and then turned back to the NBC cameras and shouted: “Greta Van Susteren!”

Sarah Palin’s Daughter: The Juno of Juneau

juno3.jpgYesterday there was a rumor that republican VP nominee Sarah Palin‘s 5th child was actually her 17 year old daughter Bristol Palin‘s child. That Sarah Palin had wanted to spare her daughter the shame and claimed the baby as her own. Yes, the rumor was also a storyline on last season’s Desperate Housewives. The scheme on the show was also carried out by a right-wing gun nut character. It just fit. Besides, when a high school girl is out of school for 7 months with mono. That’s code.

Anyway, news broke this morning, very fitting for ‘Labor’ Day, that Bristol is 5 months pregnant now. And that Sarah, doesn’t want to spare her the shame. So there’s a relief.

From CNN.com:

Sarah and Todd Palin issued a statement saying they are “proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.”

The thing with being pro-choice AND anti-birth control (er pro-abstinence) is that sooner or later something is going to (ahem) give.
