Where’s The Love? Tennis Magazine Cuts Staff

Tennis pun! For sad news. Tennis magazine has taken advantage of the lull between Grand Slam tournaments to cut back on staffers, Folio: is reporting. The magazine has laid off four of its nine full-time editorial staffers: the online editor, a senior editor, the art director and the photo director. Their workload — the design and photography, as well as a bit of editing — will instead be outsourced.

Bill Miller, Tennis‘ co-owner, president and CEO, told Folio: that the magazine also hopes to shift more focus towards online content, saying  “we’ve got to be creating content that is web centric. It’s part of the evolution of shifting our resources.”

On a positive note, Tennis does plan to hire three or four editors with digital expertise in the near future.
