True/Slant Says Goodbye

goodbye channel.png

This weekend will mark the end of the road for the web start-up True/Slant. The site will be taken down, its founders heading off to take over Forbes. It was a good run. In less than a year, T/S managed to routinely draw over a million unique users per month — an impressive accomplishment, and no doubt the reason Forbes has entrusted the T/S team with its future. But beyond drawing eyeballs, T/S provided a rare–paid no less–venue for writers to explore new ideas and develop their voices.

This Fishie wrote for T/S and got paid to write about fundamentalist FEMA camp conspiracy theorists, growing a mustache and calling himself Guy Palomino, sending Orange County conservatives to colonize Mars, socialist happy hour parties and ticks assaulting his genitals. Not a bad run.

So long True/Slant, we’ll miss ya.
