Two American Journalists Missing in Lebanon

081008-missing-hlrg-8a.hlarge.jpgMSNBC is reporting that according to the US Embassy in Lebanon two Americans have gone missing there and both are thought to be journalists: “An embassy statement said Holli Chmela, 27, and Taylor Luck, 23, had not been heard from since Oct. 1 when they reportedly left Beirut en route to the northern port city of Tripoli.”

According to her bio at the online newspaper The Globalist Chmela works as a news assistant in the Washington Bureau of The New York Times — it also looks like she has contributed to the Caucus blog. Luck is apparently an editor with The Jordan Times. The U.S. Embassy said it is working with the Lebanese Internal Security Force to investigate the whereabouts of the pair.
