UCLA Alum Gets Lots of Love for Valentine’s Day Google Doodle

According to a report in the Marin Independent Journal, it took 52-year-old animator Michael Lipman about 200 hours to put together the Google Doodle that adorned the search giant’s home page on February 14. In case you missed the sweet concoction, it’s embedded below.

Lipman got the Google gig on account of a personal referral. Although the one-time UCLA fine arts and animation student has worked for other big-time Silicon Valley clients such as Apple and Mondo Media, this week’s audience was no doubt his largest. He told reporter Gary Klien that singer Tony Bennett, who provided the music, expressed an interest in also doing the artwork. In the end, Lipman won out.

Besides serenading the Internet keywords populace, Lipman also likes to evaluate Tequila bottle brands for a web show called “The Tequila Whisperer.”
