Variety as Consumer Advocate– Style Sheriffs Still in Town?

Will the new editor of Variety’s Stylephile, Laura Repstad, continue the blog’s retail vigilante posse? Or will she stop letting the Style Sheriffs blackmail retail outlets?

Style Sheriffs Thank BCBG
You may recall that a reader recently engaged the Style Sheriffs to settle a dispute with BCBG. In short, she bought a dress for $303.10(with tax) that was damaged before she wore it and had no luck with a local L.A. BCBG store in getting sympathy or store credit. Well, we approached BCBG and demanded some answers. The company quickly apologized, ponied up the store credit and even threw in a $50 gift certificate to make nice. More importantly, they investigated why it happened and assured us that customer service is important to them.
Now, that’s what we call justice. Retail should never be a wild, wild west. But when it gets ugly, our guns talk business.

Or will Peter Bart expand this service into the stratosphere of Hollywood deal-making? We’d settle for getting our money back from any of these.
