WRXP Broadcasts First Live Concert in May

For the first time in its history, Emmis’ WRXP will broadcast a live concert. The show, at the famed New York City club Webster Hall, takes place on May 11.

Morning show hosts Matt Pinfield and Leslie Fram will be joined by Rich Russo and Brian Phillips. The concert is being branded, The Anything Anything 10 O’ Clock News: Live Edition, a hybrid created from Russo’s Sunday night free form show Anything Anything and Phillips’ nightly Ten O’ Clock News.

The special broadcast will be syndicated by two stations in at least two other markets and feature New York indie rock band The Dirty Pearls.

“Part of 101.9 RXP’s mission in the beginning was to support the local scene and I can’t think of a better New York band to do our first ‘live’ concert broadcast than The Dirty Pearls. Rock is Alive in N.Y.C.,” said Fram, the WRXP program director.

Russo began a live concert series with his free form Sunday night on air show, Anything Anything. Both the live and radio versions feature music veterans as well as independent acts or artists largely unheard on radio.
