WSJ Runs With a Pre-McCain Sarah Palin

It all comes down to timing and more often than not, where magazines and their long lead time are concerned, the timing is bad. But in the case of this weekend’s debut WSJ magazine, the timing couldn’t have been better. We are speaking of the magazine’s piece on Sarah Palin. Actually it’s just a short article about Palin’s running habits (she’s a marathoner), but still! In case you missed it, there’s nothing in the article to suggest that she, or anyone else, had any clue what awaited her, or us, in the upcoming GOP VP stakes. Just some nice tidbits about her exercise routine and the fact that she prefers a skinny white-chocolate mocha to a real breakfast. Sadly no one thought to ask her what she thought about community organizers.

My ideal fantasy is to be running on a hot dusty road just wearing running shorts and some kind of top that wicks away sweat. But in reality I’m running in 20-below temperatures, so I wear layers of fleece and always a good outdoor waterproof trail shoe. Right now I’ve been running in Nike Air Structure Triax. And I always wear sunglasses. My kids tell me to put them on so I don’t freak people out when they see me with a goofy hairdo and no makeup.
