WWD Set To Take Over Jewelry Trade Pub JCK

JCK_December_Cover_2009.jpgReed Business Information has been trying to sell off part of its U.S. business, and today it looks like it has entered into a partnership with Condé Nast-owned Fairchild Fashion Group regarding its jewelry industry trade magazine JCK.

In a memo sent to RBI staffers today, obtained by FishbowlNY, RBI CEO John Poulin told staffers that the new licensing agreement will allow Fairchild’s fashion trade Women’s Wear Daily to take over operations at JCK, resulting in a new magazine, WWD/JCK Magazine. Fairchild will now start interviewing JCK staffers for positions on the new mag, with the transition set to wrap up by March, Poulin said.

Our sister company Reed Exhibitions has announced a new licensing relationship between JCK magazine and the Fairchild Fashion Group (publisher of Women’s Wear Daily) to produce WWD/JCK Magazine.

As you may recall, Reed Exhibitions assumed leadership of JCK earlier this year, although our JCK colleagues have continued to work at RBI-US offices.

With this new agreement in place, JCK and Fairchild will begin the transition to WWD/JCK Magazine immediately. Fairchild will assume all operations at the publication, while interviewing JCK employees for staff positions. This transition period is expected to last through March, 2010.

We would like to wish our JCK colleagues the very best professional success, whether or not they continue with the publication after the transition period. It has been a pleasure to work with such a talented group of individuals.

The new WWD/JCK Magazine will debut in April, 2010. All advertising and subscription commitments will be honored fully by Fairchild as part of the agreement. Reed Exhibitions retains all rights to, and ownership of, the JCK brand.
