This article for the Hawaiia Airlines in-flight magazine Hana Hou! took first place in the Hawai'i Visitors & Convention Bureau's "Keep it Hawai‘i" awards, print media division. It tells the story of the Kanaka'ole family, which traces its roots back to the earliest hula history.
