Professional Experience
I am an award-winning science and environmental journalist working in magazines and radio, and specializing in the issues of the American West. I report on people, plants, animals and the elements, and how they're all related. I am a contributing editor at High Country News, the West's environmental magazine, where I write frequently on the intersection of climate science, ecology and land management, and environmental policy and politics. I also have expertise in water, energy and agriculture, and excel at spinning complex topics into compelling and accessible yarns. In past lives, I worked with American RadioWorks, the Utne Reader, and the Third Coast International Audio Festival, studied radio at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies, and served on the Board of Directors for KVNF, public radio for Western Colorado.
