Agassi Book Deal in the Offing?

Yes, Andre Agassi has had a colorful life and career – and that’s not even getting into his romantic history, which includes notables like Barbra Streisand and Steffi Graf. But if what PW Daily reported yesterday is true, then publishers are going overboard money-wise in a big way as bids have allegedly topped $4 million for the book, which has no writer attached and no formal proposal. A source told PW Daily’s Matthew Thornton that several publishers, including Knopf’s Sonny Mehta and HarperCollins’s David Hirshey, are competing for a book repped by Richard Pine that will reportedly be a memoir of Agassi’s life and career, as well as talk about the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in Las Vegas. In other words, another auction worth watching…
