Ang Lee May Direct Life of Pi Adaptation

life-of-pi.jpgDirector Ang Lee–the filmmaker behind Brokeback Mountain and Hulk–is considering adapting Yann Martel‘s 2002 Booker Prize-winning bestseller, Life of Pi.

The book has come close to the big screen multiple times, but the tale of a boy shipwrecked on a raft full of animals has yet to find a working team. The Variety article has a long list of previous directors who considered tackling this popular novel.

Here’s an excerpt: “The project has been through several incarnations, first with scribe Dean Georgaris, then M. Night Shyamalan. Lee will supervise a new script. Studio will hire a writer shortly. Project was most recently developed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who wrote a script with his “Amelie” collaborator Guillaume Laurent.” (Via Edward Champion.)
