IF I DID IT Bookscan Numbers Due to Pre-Orders, not salesThe mystery surrounding Bookscan's report of 100 copies of OJ Simpson's canceled "confession" IF I DID IT sold during the week ending December 3 has been solved. According to HarperCollins spokeswoman Erin Crum, those "sales" were in fact pre-orders that a single retail account had neglected to delete from their system. Crum could not comment on the retailer's identity and efforts to reach Bookscan representatives are still pending. UPDATE: Jim King, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Bookscan, confirmed that a retailer sent pre-ship orders(orders that did not ship) erroneously. He also added that Bookscan "does not breakout/identify specific retailer sales, nor is it nor is it our policy/practice to report the sales of any title by any retailer in our system."
