Hitchhiker Thumbs Again

Even though he passed away in 2001, science fiction author Douglas Adams will have a new book on the shelves soon, The Guardian reports. Eoin Colfer, the man behind the best-selling Artemis Fowl series, will be writing a new addition to the hilarious Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series.

Penguin marketing and publicity director Joanna Prior explained the idea behind the new book, entitled And Another Thing…:

“It’s not Eoin Colfer writing as Douglas Adams … [I]t’s absolutely about him being himself–Eoin the author, but with the cast of Hitchhiker.”

On message boards at the Douglas Adams Continuum fan site, reactions have been skeptical. One 49-year-old reader posted a fake sarcastic book cover and another poster had this bitter thought: “I will remain unhappy about this until I die where I’ll probably have someone steal my identity perhaps and be known forever more as Marty Sequel.” (Thanks, Jacket Copy)
