Housing Works Hosts Gimme Shelter Conversation
Six Word Memoir co-creator Larry Smith was one of several literati who showed up at Housing Works Wednesday night to help Mary Elizabeth Williams celebrate the publication of Gimme Shelter, which combines a personal account of Williams’ efforts to buy a home in New York City with an overview of how the current economic situation affects America’s housing market. Chris Bonanos of New York talked with Williams in front of an audience that included authors Laura Miller and Helene Stapinski.
Williams created a two-minute trailer to sum up the personal side of Gimme Shelter:
She will return to her former Brooklyn neighborhood—within walking distance of it, at any rate—with a reading at the newly expanded Book Court on April 8.
