Infobase Publishing Acquires the World Almanac Imprint

-2.jpgEarlier today Infobase Publishing acquired the World Almanac imprint, purchasing the imprint from Weekly Reader Publishing Group for an undisclosed sum.

World Almanac has published reference books since 1868, and the flagship publication, “The World Almanac and Book of Facts,” has sold 80 million copies. The imprint also includes a number of related titles, including “World Almanac for Kids” and “The World Almanac Book of Records.”

Here’s a statement from Infobase president Mark McDonnell: “There are few names in reference publishing as well-known as the World Almanac … so when we had opportunity to add it to our existing family of imprints, we moved quickly. ‘The World Almanac’ has been and will continue to be a powerful name in reference publishing, and we are excited about bringing it forward as an online resource as well.”
