LSU Press Will Stay Open

lsupress.jpgIn a corner of the industry besieged by bad news, a happy report comes out of Louisiana. After months of uncertainty with the state legislature, Louisiana State University Press has survived budget woes that could have closed the press.

The press will make some “operational” modifications but stay open this year, The Chronicle of Higher Education reports. The press has published works by James Lee Burke, James Dickey, and John Hope Franklin, and its authors have earned four Pulitzer Prizes.

Here’s more from the article: “the press has many supporters inside academe and in the larger literary community. They rallied to lobby the LSU administration and the state’s governor, Bobby Jindal, to keep the press alive.”
