Scene @ Siobhan Vivian’s Little Friendly Advice Party

When Siobhan Vivian (center) read from her debut novel, A Little Friendly Advice, at Brooklyn’s Book Court last week, much of the city’s YA literary community came to cheer her on, including fellow author Jenny Han and author/editor David Levithan. There were also rows and rows of cupcakes, Vivian’s choice for party treats (with plenty of beer to wash them down). She’ll be reading again tonight at the Jefferson Market branch of the New York Public Library, in a group event with E. Lockhart, Elizabeth Scott, Melissa Walker, and Maryrose Wood. This one starts early: 6 p.m. And no word yet on whether they’ll have cupcakes, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
