Anthology Raises Money for Sandy Relief

Author R.T. Kaelin has assembled a team of writers for a new anthology to raise money for Red Cross relief as the East Coast rebuilds following Hurricane Sandy.

Follow this link to donate and get a copy of the book. The Triumph Over Tragedy anthology will include stories by Robert SilverbergMarion Zimmer BradleyElizabeth Bear and Michael J. Sullivan, among many others. Check it out:

I reached out to fellow writers (who in turn, reached out to more writers) with the idea of putting together an anthology of donated short stories, sell them via eBook, and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Red Cross for relief efforts. As this will take time to put together, I thought trying to raise money now in exchange for the anthology later might be useful. Hence, I am here. The theme of the anthology is simple: triumph over tragedy. It will contain all sorts of stories: fantasy (traditional or urban), sci-fi, mystery, pulp, romance, action…I don’t much care what goes in it. To me, the more variety, the better as I want this to appeal to as many people as possible. The more readers, the more money to those who need it. My only guidance is that every story be appropriate for all ages.

The publishing venture will be treated as a Macmillan imprint, separate from Tor Books. The book will be sold at Tor.com, as well as online booksellers like Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. Among other stories, the anthology contains “Daltharee” by Jeffrey Ford, “The Rabbi’s Hobby” by Peter S. Beagle, and the Best Novelette Hugo-winning story, “Shoggoths in Bloom” by Elizabeth Bear.

Here’s more from the release: “YBF 9 is available only as a print-on-demand book, in keeping with our mission of always exploring alternative forms of publishing.
