UnBeige: Joe the Plumber Needs Quick Book Money
Steve Delahoyde of UnBeige, mediabistro.com’s design blog, informs us that Joe the Plumber, who tells reporters he’s “broke,” has already written a book called Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream, which PearlGate Publishing is ready to release next month. Let’s hope it’s a bit more articulate than his explanation for why he’s probably taking on more publishers:
“I am not going to a conglomerate that way we actually can get the economy jump started. Like there is five publishing companies in Michigan. There’s a couple down in Texas. They are small ones that can handle like 10 or 15,000 copies. I can go to a big one that could handle a million or two. But they don’t need the help. They are already rich. So that’s spreading the wealth to me.”
PearlGate’s only other offering is a novel by Joe’s co-author, Thomas Tabback, who is also the company’s founder. Technically, though, Joe the Plumber is not self-publishing. Unless he actually sunk some of his own money into PearlGate to get the book out, we suppose.
