Comcast Shutting Down CN8 in January

CN8_4c2.jpg

PR video blogger Doug Simon tipped us off last night at PRSA’s Tech Event that Comcast’s regional cable network, CN8 will be shutting its doors in January. CN8 will be replaced by The Comcast Network, “which will include shows with former CN8 personalities like Lynn Doyle, Art Fennell and Larry Kane as well as much of the regional high school and college sports programming that CN8 carried,” according to the Bucks County Courier Times.

This PRNewser remembers booking many a guest segment on CN8 over the years. The producers there were courteous and fun to work with. We wish them the best.

The Philadelphia Inquirer writes that ratings were of course the issue: “At its best, CN8′s Nielsen rating in the Philadelphia market was typically about 0.2 – fewer than 6,000 households, out of 2.8 million.”
