One of Rupert Murdoch‘s former top advisors is joining Time Warner. Gary Ginsberg, previously News Corporation’s Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs stepped down from his post in November 2009, and a formal announcement on his move to Time Warner is expected to come next week.

Ginsberg “will serve as a close lieutenant to Jeffrey L. Bewkes, Time Warner’s chief executive officer and chairman, with oversight of marketing and corporate communications” The New York Times reports.

The news comes less than a week after Time Warner announced that longtime Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications Ed Adler will be leaving the company in May.

“Ginsberg’s role is bigger than the one Ed had…He’s not being brought in to replace Ed,” a source involved in the discussions told the New York Post, who first reported the news.
