NASCAR’s King Richard Wants Veterans to Remove the Pedal from the Metal

The Department of Veterans Affairs wants returning combat Vets to go easy behind the wheel, and have hired NASCAR legend Richard Petty to get the word out, according to a release issued this week.

Petty, the Gretzky/Jordon/Woods of car racing has the infrastructure to do so with his packed schedule of over 200 yearly “Richard Petty Driving Experience” events.

This is a nice deal for Petty, mainly. The VA, DOT, and DOD kick a few bucks to Petty, and in return he gets a ready-made marketing program that everyone can feel good about, and hopefully some deserving Servicemen and women get some free rides. I’m not sure driving a stock car would make me drive any slower however.
