Roll Call: Edelman, OCG PR, Public Relations Global Network, and More

Edelman has announced new leadership positions in the firm’s Chicago office, naming Kevin Cook as Chicago’s first chief operating officer and Una Pipic as the new chief of staff, effective immediately. Cook and Pipic will report to Jay Porter, president, Edelman Chicago. The addition of these positions is part of maintaining the momentum and continued evolution of the Chicago office. Cook joined Edelman in 1996 and has served as the managing director of Chicago’s Corporate Affairs practice since 2008, and Pipic joined Edelman in 2013 as senior vice president of the new business and marketing team. OCG PR has added new, strategic leadership in public engagement, public relations and creative services. The agency has appointed Amanda L. Ray to senior vice president, public relations; Cynthia Northrop White to senior vice president, public engagement and Michel Ansara to creative director. Ray now leads the strategy and overall execution of the firm’s corporate communications, media relations, social media and integrated marketing communications campaigns. Over the past 20 years, she has brought award-winning PR programs to life for companies and organizations like AT&T, Cell Phones for Soldiers, The Women’s Museum and TXU Energy, among others. Northrop White now directs strategy and overall execution for the agency’s public engagement practice. A former Denton County Commissioner, she brings years of experience connecting and educating stakeholders and municipal leaders around public sector developments. Prior to joining OCG, she was the head of the Public Information Office for TxDOT’s Dallas District. Ansara now oversees all creative strategy and execution for the firm’s design and video production. A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, he brings more than 10 years of experience designing and developing print, digital and video assets and augmented reality engagement to OCG. (Release)

Public Relations Global Network (PRGN) announced the election of Uwe Schmidt, CEO and co-owner of Industrie-Contact (IC AG) in Hamburg, Germany as its new president. Schmidt will lead the worldwide network of 47 independently owned firms on six continents. He succeeds David Landis of Landis Communications Inc. in San Francisco. Other appointments include Ed Stevens, owner of Cleveland, Ohio-based Stevens Strategic Communications, Inc. who has been named president-elect. Schmidt has driven the internationalization and networking of IC AG for more than a decade, lending his talents to a variety of corporations. Food & beverage, health and medicine, public affairs, professional services, technology and transportation are among his areas of expertise. His background includes international PR counsel, crisis management, financial communications, special events, website development, government relations/public affairs, search engine optimization (SEO), graphic design, publishing, marketing and direct mail marketing. Industrie-Contact has been a member of PRGN since 2002. Ed Stevens brings more than 45 years experience to his new role as president-elect of PRGN. After serving as vice chairman and president, marketing communications for Cleveland-based Dix & Eaton for nearly 30 years, Stevens launched his own communications firm in 1999. His background includes branding, inquiry management, crisis communications, investor relations, media relations and marketing communications. Stevens has significant experience in such industry sectors as manufacturing, food/food service, safety, healthcare, chemicals, banking, professional services, distribution, utilities and building/construction. Mike Spinella joins Pandora as senior director, Original Content, effective immediately. Spinella will lead the growth and development of a world-class content and artist programming strategy across the Pandora platform, connecting brands with artists and their passionate fans. He will be based in New York and manage the Original Content teams in Oakland, Los Angeles, and New York with a primary focus on creating and curating dynamic video and audio content for Pandora users. Spinella was most recently the Director of Industry Relations for Rolling Stone and Wenner Media (he joined Rolling Stone in 2011). (Release)
