President Obama has nominated two former Federal Communications Commission staffers to serve as commissioners: Jessica Rosenworcel and Ajit Pai. The nominees, a Democrat and Republican respectively, were chosen to represent both parties and speed along confirmation. [via Adweek]
Mike Russell has joined MSLGroup Americas as SVP of sales and business development, a new position. He’ll be reporting to Americas president Jim Tsokanos and is charged with winning U.S.-based global and national accounts. He was previously MD of Meredith Integrated Marketing, a division of Meredith Corporation.
Amex’s Departures magazine has appointed Erin Brennan as director of integrated marketing. And it has named Tracy Monahan director of creative marketing. Both are new positions. Brennan joins from Vanity Fair, where she was creative development director. And Monahan joined Departures in October 2010. The new positions are part of a realigning of the marketing department.
Melissa Sun has joined the Sierra Club as senior strategist for entertainment relations, a new role that will bring the organization together with celebrities. Sun was previously VP of Stan Rosenfield and Associates, the L.A. -based entertainment firm. The Sierra Club had approached Sun about leading a new strategy and branding program.
