Univision has announced a new social media communications team, and David Beck (left) will serve as VP, GM of social media. He’ll report to Mónica Talán, SVP of corporate communications and PR. Beck was previously VP of strategic initiatives in Univision’s office of the CEO.
Chandler Chicco Companies has launched Chandler Chicco Digital comprised of the firm’s existing digital specialists and those from Kazaam Interactive. Kazaam was acquired by Chandler Chicco parent company, inVentiv Health. Both Chandler Chicco and Kazaam are healthcare firms. [via]

DePaul University’s College of Communication is giving Alvin “Al” Golin, founder and chairman of GolinHarris, an honorary Doctor of Human Letters during the June 10 commencement. Besides launching his own firm, Golin was once a consultant for the U.S. Department of Commerce. “Half a century ago, Al Golin developed a public relations philosophy that transformed the field, recognizing the importance of building a ‘trust bank,’ or ongoing public service and philanthropy,” said Jacqueline Taylor, dean of the College, in a statement.
Ellen Field has joined The Cadmus Group as principal in the strategic comms and market transformation division. She’ll focus on growing the public health area. Field was previously EVP of health and social marketing at Porter Novelli and, between 2005 and 2007, was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
NASCAR Car Wash, developers of NASCAR-themed car wash services nationwide, has created a new marketing division, Amazing Racing Communications, which will lead all marketing, PR, and other promotional initiatives for the company. Cheryl Snapp Conner is president of the new group. Conner is also managing partner of Snapp Conner PR in Salt Lake City. [via]
