Schumer Taking a Lead Messaging Role

Newly re-elected Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has appointed Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY) to a leadership position that links the Democratic Policy Committee and the Senate Democratic Communications Center. Politico reports that it received a letter detailing this and other changes to Senate leadership. In the letter, Reid says the party needs to “better integrate our legislative- and message-crafting functions into a coordinated nucleus managing policy, press and politics.”

In the letter, which is also available on the New York Daily News site, Reid also praises Schumer’s “communications abilities and tactical skills.”
