Survey: BP’s Consumer Perception Sinks Below Goldman Sachs

It’s official, according to at least one survey: people have a more negative view of BP than they do of Goldman Sachs. The troubled energy company dipped below the investment bank for the first time on June 14th, reports YouGov BrandIndex, a daily consumer perception research service of brands.
On that date, BP had a -42.1 buzz score compared to Goldman Sachs’ -40.3. Since then, BP has dipped even further, with a score of -47.6 to Goldman’s -39.3.
BP is now not far from Toyota’s low point, which was -52.7 at the end of March, as they continued to manage through a massive recall.
The question asked of respondents to determine the buzz score is: “If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, was it positive or negative?”
