Now, the agency has announced many new hires as it rebuilds its team. Here are the highlights:

Ellena Friedman joined as a senior vice president, director of the healthcare and life sciences practice and deputy managing director in Boston. Previously, Friedman was a senior vice president at Feinstein Kean Healthcare.

MS&L Loses Another Healthcare Exec

With the departure of Kelly Dencker this week, MS&L has lost four senior healthcare execs since the beginning of the year. MS&L Worldwide is a division of Publicis Groupe.

Unlike MaryEllen O’Donohue, Monique da Silva, and Wendy Lund, who left for other large global firms, Dencker signed with NJ-based Coyne PR as SVP and head of their healthcare practice. Coyne at last check, had under a hundred people and billings of around $12 million.

O’Donohue, da Silva, and Lund left for Cohn & Wolfe, Ogilvy PR, and Cohn & Wolfe’s GCI Health respectively, all divisions of the massive WPP Group (NASDAQ: WPPGY).

Monique da Silva has joined Ogilvy PR as Executive Vice President/Head of North America Healthcare Practice, the agency said today.

da Silva previously served as Global Healthcare Director at MS&L Worldwide, where she worked with clients including sanofi aventis, Genzyme, Pfizer, Lilly, Novo Nordisk, and Roche.

In related news, earlier this month Cohn & Wolfe hired healthcare PR vet MaryEllen O’Donohue away from MS&L to serve as Executive Vice President, Strategy and Client Service.

Also, Wendy Lund was named CEO of Cohn & Wolfe’s GCI Health division in early February. She was previously EVP, Global Business & Client Development at MS&L. Cohn and Wolfe hired Mike Kan to run its global healthcare practice.

MS&L hired Joan Cetera as Senior Vice President, Consumer Home and Wellness on February 18th. She had previously been with Ogilvy PR.

An MS&L rep told PRNewser today they didn’t know if the agency would be hiring to replace the other open positions.

As PRNewser previously noted, there has been a significant game of musical chairs taking place in recent months in regards to healthcare executives on both the brand and agency sides.
