Roll Call: WISE Public Relations, Ruder Finn, Resolute Consulting, PepsiCo

NYC-based WISE Public Relations appointed John McCartney to the newly created role of director of media relations. McCartney will be responsible for leading the media relations programs and providing strategic communications counsel to clients. Prior to WISE Public Relations, John served as US Account Director, Earned Media at Splendid Communications Group. (Revolving Door)

Dushka Zapata joined Ruder Finn to head the agency’s west coast operations. Dushka will become the agency’s Managing Director, Ruder Finn San Francisco, a newly created position. She was most recently Executive Vice President and Head of the San Francisco office for Ogilvy & Mather, where she oversaw the agency’s full offering in San Francisco. (Release)

Resolute Consulting hired John Cohen as executive vice president of its national security strategy and communications practice in Washington, D. C.. Cohen was formerly principal deputy coordinator for counterterrorism at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In his new role, John will work with Resolute Consulting clients to assess the public environment surrounding complex issues and develop strategic communications and outreach strategies to help solve them.  He will leverage his extensive experience working with the news media and preparing and implementing crisis communications plans for public and private sector entities. Roll Call: Edelman appointments, The Door expands

Edelman has got three executive moves to announce. Lisa Manley has been named the EVP of the firm’s new Business + Social Purpose practice in Chicago, effective May 15. Manley joins the firm from Coca-Cola where she managed global CSR and sustainability programs along with comms focused on categories like health, water, and climate protection. The firm has also promoted Harlan Loeb (right) to global chair of the crisis and risk management practice. He’s been head of the U.S. crisis practice since 2009. And the latest appointment is Joanne Colan as SVP and senior content strategist. Colan was the host of v-log Rocketboom and Discovery’s Planet Green series Dean of Invention. At Edelman, she’ll be focused on the ways clients can best use broadcast and video platforms.

New York-based firm The Door has added a Chicago office. Katy Darnaby, who has more than 10 years experience working with organizations including Dan Klores Communications and Hill+Knowlton Strategies, has been hired to run the office. The firm has also hired Tara Melega as a senior member of the New York team. She was previously senior director of media relations at Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, and has worked on campaigns for artists including Natasha Bedingfield, Michael Jackson, and Cyndi Lauper.

Rose Berg has been named SVP in charge of the healthcare practice in Weber Shandwick‘s Seattle office. Prior to joining Weber, Berg ran her own firm, Partners for Our Children, a public/private partnership with the University of Washington. During the course of her 25-year career, she’s worked with clients including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Pacific Health Summit.

Richard Millar, CEO of Hill + Knowlton Strategies UK has been named the president of the first-ever PR Jury at the Dubai International Advertising Festival, taking place March 4 through 7. Submissions are now being accepted here.

Alison Thompson has been named VP at Boston’s Solomon McCown. She was previously a senior account supervisor working with real estate, corporate, financial, consumer, and professional service clients. Her new role will have added operational responsibilities for the firm.

Arun Chaudhary has joined Fenton as resident filmmaker in the firm’s video division. Chaudhary was previously the first official White House videographer for the Obama administration, producing 1,165 videos that reached 14.8 million views on YouTube. Last week, Fenton announced that Victor Neufeld, veteran ABC News EP joined the firm as its first executive producer.

Ogilvy PR has hired Rebecca Davis to serve as EVP of the 360 Digital Influence practice in Washington D.C. Previously, she worked at Discovery Communications where she developed digital and brand strategies for the U.S. networks.

Christal Goetz joins APCO Worldwide as SVP and a member of the firm’s leadership team for the global online and creative practice. Goetz joins from New Media Strategies where she built the firm’s corporate practice.

Resolute Consulting has announced three promotions. Anne-Marie St. Germaine, previously chief creative officer, is now MD and leads the public-private partnership and infrastructure practice. John McGovern has moved from VP to EVP. He has led the firm’s corporate, financial, and legal comms practice since joining in 2007. And Jim Soreng has been promoted to VP from SAE. He has a specialty in advocacy campaigns.
